COM DEV Selected to Design the Next Generation of Satellite Payload for Global Seach and Rescue

COM DEV International Ltd. announced that it has won a contract to begin work on the development of an advanced satellite payload that will be used in the next generation of the global search and rescue system known as Cospas-Sarsat.

Our founder Val O'Donovan inducted into the Cambridge Hall of Fame

CAMBRIDGE — Val O'Donovan started COM DEV, a world leader in satellite and wireless communications technology, in Montreal in 1974. Five years later, he moved the company to Cambridge.  "It's one of the best things that has happened to our community," Craig said.

Michael Valentine O'Donovan — born in Ireland on Valentine's Day — died in 2005. His wife Sheila was at city hall on Wednesday to receive the honour. Together, the O'Donovans founded Lisaard House hospice for cancer patients in Cambridge. O'Donovan spent six years as chancellor at the University of Waterloo and was instrumental in bringing the school of architecture to Cambridge in 2004. He was also a member of the Order of Canada.

COM DEV equipment launched on ANIK G1 satellite
